ABOUT YOU
You’re a writer at heart and crafting compelling copy in a range of formats for varied audiences is one of your passions.
Injecting creativity into work is second nature and you’re able to delve deep into briefs of all shapes and sizes, producing work that wows clients and makes people sit up, listen and take notice. This often involves taking complex ideas and concepts and translating them into engaging and readable copy.
We’re communicators at our core and you should be too. No copywriting brief is the same and hitting the mark requires a strong ability to interrogate, probe and reveal the key insights needed. Liaising with senior leaders is something that we do day-in-day out, and you should be able to as well.
A large part of our work is driven by news and current affairs and we’re looking for someone with a keen interest in the world around them – what’s making the headlines, what issues are affecting our clients and what people want to read.
We’re a tight-knit team and we’re looking for someone to throw themselves fully into agency life; from day-to-day work and new business, right through to socials and agency success. Our content manager responsibilities can be broken down into the following areas:
PRACTICAL SKILLS
As a small team, every person is expected to get stuck in. Being outstanding at our core service offering is a must:
- Ability to draft outstanding copy, both technical content and media content – press releases, features, blogs, social copy, website copy, white papers and other long-form content
- Confident and efficient copy checking, writing, editing / sub editing agency work to ensure our best work reaches our clients at all times
- Excellent levels of spelling and grammar, and a high attention to detail
- Robust understanding of digital marketing and copywriting practices, e.g. SEO-aligned copy
- An understanding of the media and how to get the most out of an opportunity
- Evaluation of our work to best reflect industry best practice and the latest techniques
- Ability to adopt a training and upskilling mindset with regards to development of the wider team
- Confident use of CMS, e.g. WordPress
- Although not a focus of the role, it would be advantageous if you had experience of pitching, selling in and speaking to the media.
PEOPLE
Our people matter the most, so our content managers have a huge role to play when it comes to how we work internally and the support our entire team receives.
- Empower, train and support agency team members with copywriting of all kinds
- Provide mentoring to direct reports and confident line management
- Input into our extensive internal training programme
- Provide guidance and support to internal team members
- Provide troubleshooting for managers on on-the-job copywriting queries
CLIENTS
We always deliver on our promises, and more. Our content managers ensure that everything we produce is up to standard and are confident in liaising with clients on everything to do with the written word.
- Consult with clients on copywriting requirements
- Craft and present media and copywriting ideas
- Confidently discuss copywriting projects in client meetings and catch ups
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders around briefings, amends and approvals
- Provide strategic guidance on copywriting best practice and effective approaches
- Use knowledge of news and current affairs to consult on relevant copywriting topics and angles
COMMERCIAL
Everyone at Pearl Comms has a commercial mindset, regardless of seniority; our content managers are no different. Everyone has a part to play in driving the agency forward and ensuring its future success.
- Identifying opportunities to grow revenue, offering copywriting expertise and projects to current clients
- Shaping new business pitches with copywriting expertise
- Confident at digesting and responding to public sector bids and tenders (Desirable)
