5 Questions with Harriet, our PR intern

After joining us for the past month, we sat down with our intern, Harriet to reflect on her time at Pearl and learn a bit more about her!

Here’s what she had to say…

Why PR and communications?

Harriet: PR and comms provide an insight into such a diverse array of industries and the expansive scope of services offered by agencies ensures every day is different – which is something I love!

I’m naturally a sociable person and this field offers me the opportunity to collaborate with such a wide range of people, both in person and virtually. My degree in History has equipped me with transferrable analytic and writing skills, but I also am really intrigued by branding and social media strategies.

Pearl Academy was a great experience to meet the team and offered a clear perspective on Pearl Comms’ values and goals, which I felt really resonated with my own passions and aspirations.

What have been your favourite tasks you’ve undertaken so far?

Harriet: I’ve loved being at the agency – working with such a dynamic range of clients and being encouraged by colleagues every day has been invaluable.

Learning how to pitch and issue ideas on the phone and email has equipped me with a new essential skill, while also building my network and relationship with journalists.

It’s been interesting learning how to adapt my tone and rhetoric to craft thought leaderships and press releases. I’ve also enjoyed using my creativity to tailor the right image on social media for different clients.

What three words would describe the office?

Harriet: Ambitious, insightful, positive.

What does a Saturday look like for you after a week at work?

Harriet: My family and I have a black labrador who loves the fields by our house so that’s a great way to get out in nature. After that, a chilled afternoon, possibly baking, followed by a sociable evening in a country pub or an Italian restaurant with my friends or family!

What are your goals for the upcoming year?

Harriet: I hope to have opportunities to build on my experience by growing my network and skillset further, particularly by attending networking events. Personally, I’d love to take up running and the gym as I love to have a hobby. A few holidays wouldn’t go amiss either…
