5 Questions with Meg, our Digital Content Manager
From attention-grabbing social media posts to video content that makes you stop in your tracks, our digital content manager, Meg, is an expert in all things digital media. We sat down with her to learn all about the latest B2B trends and get some advice about working in PR.
What trends in PR are you most excited about right now?
I really like how so many businesses are moving away from service or product-driven content and instead incorporating people so much more. Getting to know the real people behind the business is always fun and adds a unique perspective that will naturally make you stand out from competitors.
It’s even better when this is done in a really unique way and not just copied and pasted, because trust me, we can tell!
Which platform is most underrated for B2B right now, and why?
I’ve noticed such a shift away from traditional social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn, in favour of platforms like Substack or Reddit.
We’ve been in a trend cycle of short form content for a couple of years now, and naturally we’re shifting back to a preference of longer formats. People are keen to deep dive into one subject and will dedicate the time to it whether that’s through longer videos or written content. Think of the move from Vine to the peak era of YouTubers – it’s just like this again in terms of cyclical trends.
What advice would you give someone starting out in PR?
When you land your first role, say yes to everything! It took me a while to truly realise where my passions lie. Take the time to try out new things and find what you really love! For me it’s social media and content creation, and now I get to focus on what gives me the fire every day.
What are your desk essentials?
For Secret Santa last year I got a flip book of positivity, so every Monday I get a new positive mantra to see me through the week. Other than that, my essentials are a matcha or iced latte, lip balm and an obnoxiously large drink of water.
What’s keeping you busy outside of work?
I’m really active outside of work, whether that’s spending time at the gym or going out for a run in the evening. I’m currently studying to become a qualified Mat and Reformer Pilates instructor, and I’m also training for a marathon and three HYROX events, so I’m definitely keeping myself busy!
