WEST MIDLANDS TRAINS

SHOWING UP FOR
THE COMMUNITY

We undertook a seconded in-house press officer role with West Midlands Trains to help them manage their busy day-to-day communications. This involved communicating the operators key messaging and investment milestones through hyperlocal media relations and campaign activity.

From launching industry-leading tech incubators and leading on comms for nationwide infrastructure programmes to providing crisis support and winning numerous industry awards, we helped West Midlands Trains stand out in the busy world of rail.

This included a 98% improved sentiment score and the drafting of over 40 awards entries to elevate their achievements and get them in front of the right people. Throughout the secondment, we doubled West Midlands Trains’ monthly coverage levels and created a consistent drumbeat of news across their four targeted regions.

West Midlands Trains chose to work with Pearl Comms because the agency shares our view of the importance of local media. West Midlands Trains is a national brand but our 150 stations mean we are also 150 local businesses serving 150 local communities. Getting closer to the communities we serve is one of our main business goals and we achieve this by working closely with our local media across our network.
